Harold Lee Finnell, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, and visioned his battle won after a courageous fight with dementia. He is now reunited with his forever family, rewarded in heaven with his son, Mark Finnell, and spirit advisor, our Holy Savior. Harold was born on June 16, 1930, in Roanoke, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. Finnell and Mae Sears Fetterhoff Finnell; his twin sister, Caral Marie; his brothers, Howard Fetterhoff, Joseph Fetterhoff and William C. Finnell, Jr.; and his sisters, Susan Finnell and Katie Green. Harold graduated from high school in Armstrong, Missouri, in 1948, and then joined the U.S. Air Force. He served his country behind the iron curtain in Vienna, Austria, where he became the warehouse supervisor on the base. After his service he entered Missouri University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Vocational Agriculture followed by a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. Harold met the love of his life while at the university. “Liz” and Harold each attended a dance and the rest is history. The marriage occurred August 21, 1956 and lasted 64 years. They concurred that many of their happiest years were because of the move to Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Elks Lodge provided wonderful friends, not to be forgotten, and they adored their home and neighborhood, not to mention, Razorback Sports! Harold had an unusual career in teaching and business. After teaching agriculture for five years he moved onto insurance adjusting in Kansas City. His firm transferred him to their home office where he taught adjusting. This was in Madison, Wisconsin where he also taught the subject at the University of Wisconsin. Harold then received an offer to manage a trucking firm office in Iowa Quad cities. An opportunity came once more to start his own truck sales business in Lowell, Arkansas. He supervised construction of a building and began the sales operation of heavy-duty Ford trucks. He is survived by his wife, Liz Finnell; niece, Janie F. Alexander; nephews, Bill Finnell, III and Roger L. French; great-nieces, Donna G. Dorch and Allison Tegler; and great-nephews, James Green and Michael French.
