Grandon Duane Burnett, 84, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N Hawkeye Ave, Nora Springs, IA. Burial will be at a later date. Duane was born August 3, 1935 the son of Grandon Aubry and Luella (Kling) Burnett of Rudd, IA. Duane graduated from Rudd High School and then enlisted in the Army to serve his Country. After being honorably discharged he attended the Dunnwoody’s College of Technology. On February 28, 1960 Duane married Shirley Sorensen, and from this union two children were born. Duane was a loving husband and father who could be known as a “Mr. Fix It”. Duane enjoyed repairing things for neighbors, and restoring tractors. Duane liked to attend Cedar Valley Memories in Osage, IA, and Cedar Valley Engine Club, Charles City, IA. As a farmer Duane raised corn, soy beans, cattle and hogs. Duane was an active member of the Rudd Methodist Church, being a member of the church board and the trustees. Duane was also fond of bowling, and was even on a Night Bowling League for many years. Those left to cherish memories of Duane are his children, Alan (Denise) Burnett, Jean (Dave) Burnett-Rieck; grandchildren, Tyler Burnett, Jackie Burnett, Jason Burnett, Zachery Burnett, Brittany Hahn, Brayden Valasek, Kimberly (Nathan Jacobsen) Burnett, Tiffany Long, Elizabeth (Micah) Ross, Joshua, Kory and Melissa; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Rodney (Marge) Burnett; sisters-in-law, Louise Burnett and Shirle Sorensen Beenken. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. Duane is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his brother Louis Boyd; brothers-in-law Stanley Sorensen; and sister-in-law Louise (Kenneth) Bibee.
