Obituary Grace V. Shand died on Jan.17. Born in Trenton, N.J., Mrs. Shand attended Syracuse University. She is survived by her children, Michael and wife, Valerie, Barbara Shand-Cleary, Laurel and Heather Martarello; her brother, William Vecere; her grandchildren, Kaitey and husband, Darrell Andersen, Maxwell and Daniel Martarello; her great-granddaughters, Jessica Parry, Eleanor, Madalyn, Elizabeth Andersen and Sophia Martarello; her great-great grandson, Matthew Parry; her sisters-in law, Florence S. Olsson, Beverly Shandand Mary Vecere; and her numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, James R. Shand of Bayport; and her two brothers, Philip and Rafael Vecere. A memorial celebration of life will be held at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Montauk Hwy West Sayville, NY 11796, on Wednesday February 12 from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Great South Bay Audubon Society, 59 Brook Street, Sayville, NY 11782 and would be appreciated by the family.
