Gloria Bruno, 72 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born Thursday, October 30, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Nicolina Agro. Gloria was raised in Brooklyn. She would graduate from New Utrecht High School. After high school, Gloria also attended Kingsborough College, furthering her education. Gloria raised her own family in Brooklyn. Gloria worked for 28 years for the New York Police Department. She was a Senior Police Administrative Aide within the NYPD, earning many different accolades during her long career. After retiring Gloria moved to Old Bridge in 2012, to be closer to her family. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing, traveling, trips to Atlantic City, and playing Bingo with her grandchildren. More than anything else, Gloria loved being surrounded by her family, and her family loved being surrounded by her love. Gloria kept a positive outlook on life, always making her presence known when she was in the room, her friends affectionately called her Big Red, because of her beautiful red hair. She was always generous and thoughtful for the needs of others before her own. She was a caring and loving woman who will be missed by all those that were blessed to have had her in their lives. Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Gaetano and Nicolina Agro, by her son, Charles Calco, and by her husband, Louis Bruno. Gloria is survived by her loving son, Anthony Calco and his wife, Giulia, by her loving daughter, Gloria Azzinaro and her husband John, by her caring sister, Mary McLellan and Angie Palmieri, by her cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Thomas, Amanda, Salvatore, Nicholas, and Rebecca, and by her adored great granddaughter Stella. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church located at 1 St Thomas Plaza Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. Entombment will be in St. John Cemetery, Middle Village, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
