Eloisa Rosa “Rose” Vargas Lankford, age 90, of Houston, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020. She was born May 27, 1929 in Cimarron, New Mexico, daughter of Luis Vargas and Maria Del Carmen Gauna Vargas. Rose was the widow of George Lankford. She was a school cook and of the Roman Catholic Faith. She is survived by her children, Darlene Lankford of Mt. Pine, Arkansas, Linda (Rogers) Howard of Little Rock, Romey (Pat) O’Kelley of Branson, Missouri, Artie Lankford of Houston, Arkansas, and Jananne (J.P.) Swoopes of Arlington, Virginia; sisters, June Martinez of Denver, Colorado and Mary Lou Romera of Colorado Springs, Colorado; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and by many others whose lives she touched. Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Rose Donnelly. Graveside memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, at St. Boniface Cemetery with Father Richard Davis officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, Dianne Wilson Senior Adult Center, P.O. Box 655, Perryville, AR 72126, where she spent many hours with her friends.
