Eleanor’s Obituary The world lost an extraordinary, kind, talented and caring person when Eleanor Virginia Marshall Baker, 95 of Vienna, passed away February 28, 2020 She was surrounded by her family at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born June 3, 1924 in Parkersburg, a daughter of Perla and Virginia Marshall. Eleanor was a 1942 graduate of Parkersburg High School and worked for the C&P Telephone Company of WV and VA where she held positions in Parkersburg; Portsmouth, VA; Williamsburg, VA; and Virginia Beach, VA. She was a member of XI Chapter of Beta Sigma Chi. Always involved in her community of Vienna, she was a Past President of Church Women United, a Girl Scout Leader of Troop 94, served as a Vice President of the Vienna Community Council, as well as a member of the Vienna Women’s Club. She served 11 years working with the Parent-Teacher Association serving as a Homeroom Mother, and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was equally passionate about the 4-H Vienna Homemaker Club (now CEOS) where she was a 50 year member and served as past president of both the Vienna Club and the Wood County Extension Homemakers. Eleanor served as a Founding charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Vienna where she taught Sunday School and chaired the Alter Guild. She was a life long Lutheran, served as a past president of Lutheran Church Women and District President of Lutheran Church Women. Eleanor was married for 70 years to Pearl Baker, now deceased. She is survived by two daughters Sally (Steve) Wasserman and Jenny (Marc) McCormick. She adored her two granddaughters, Amanda Wasserman and Rachel (Lonnie) Greenberg and her two great-grandchildren named in honor of her, Elliot Greenberg and Emilia Greenberg. She was preceded in death by her brothers Harold and Kenneth Marshall and a beloved sister, Lila Eagle. Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna. Services are scheduled on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Emilie Theobald-Rowlands officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A “Celebration of Life” luncheon will follow her burial at Christ Lutheran Church in Vienna.
