Obituary Edward Hart Rutherford, age 90, of Freeport, Florida passed away February 22, 2020. He was born May 24, 1929 in Athens, Alabama to Mettie Ann Mize Rutherford and David Edward Rutherford. Ed was retired USAF with numerous awards and commendations with SAC Combat Crew. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 52 years, Ruby J. Taunton Rutherford; daughter, Linda Gail Rutherford; and one brother, Daniel Mize Quigley. Ed is survived by three children, Sandy Rutherford Odom (Jack), Pamela Renee Rutherford, and Rodney R. Rutherford (Vicky); sister, Shirley Ann Barton; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 at New Beginnings Church of Freeport beginning at 5 p.m. with Pastor Louis Taunton officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. “I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky, and all I ask is a tall ship and star to steer her by”. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home and Crematory.
