Dr. Terry’s Obituary Dr. Terry Richard Davis, 82, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020 at home. Terry was born November 21, 1937, in Locust Bayou, Arkansas to Myrle & Mildred Davis. After graduating from Camden High School, he received his Bachelor’s degree from Harding University. He began his medical education at The University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock, Arkansas graduating in 1963. While in medical school he met Bette Barnett who he married in 1963. They started married life in Columbus, Georgia where he completed his Internship. Terry served in the US Air Force as a Flight Surgeon at Richards Gebaur AFB in Kansas City, Missouri from 1964 – 1966. Terry and Bette made their home in Texarkana, Texas where he also started his private practice as a Physician. He was the father of two children, Melissa Harris of Shreveport, La. and Steven Davis of Texarkana, Texas. He had one grandson, Frank Gaines Harris V who affectionately called him “Oompa”. Terry loved practicing medicine and he took great pride in caring for his patients. Fishing on Millwood Lake, canoeing rivers and supporting the Arkansas Razorbacks is where he found peace. Other than his family Terry loved his dogs. He considered himself a comedian, and he was overjoyed when a letter he wrote to a hotel in Little Rock about his Yorkshire Terrier, Opie was picked up by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. Both he & Opie were appalled that after being told there was a “no pet policy”, Terry witnessed 3 dogs checking in at that very hotel. Terry was a member of Walnut Church of Christ. He is survived by his daughter Melissa Harris and her husband Frank, son Steven Davis, and his grandson Gaines Harris. The family is planning a private service in Arkansas at the site of Terry & Bette’s favorite river.
