Dr. Stacy’s Obituary Stacy Niccole Cameron-Smith was born on September 14, 1974, to Mr. Marvis Cameron and the late Mrs. Elnora Cameron in Gulfport, Mississippi. Stacy was indeed the apple of their eyes. Stacy attended Gulfport Public Schools, where she excelled academically and socially. She was a cheerleader, member of the National Honor Society, Ujoma Club, and GHS Who’s Who, to name a few. Her love for reading, which was passed on to her from her mother aided Stacy in being in the Top 10 and Class President of her 1992 Gulfport High School Class. Stacy’s high academic achievements awarded her a Presidential Scholarship to Tougaloo College. During Stacy’s matriculation at Tougaloo College, she served on numerous organizations. However, one that stood out the most to Stacy was joining Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Gamma Omicron Chapter on November 14, 1993, with 16 other young ladies that Stacy grew to love. In 1997 Stacy earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Tougaloo College in Biology. Being a life-long learner, Stacy continued her education at Life University, College of Chiropractic in Marietta, GA, where she received her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in 2001. During her studies at Life University, she participated in research studying the effect of chiropractic maintenance on T CELL count. Stacy was certified by the Alabama State and National Boards of Chiropractic Examiners. She was a member of the Alabama State Chiropractic Association and a monthly contributing author for the local publication, Steppin Out Magazine. After working as an Associate, Stacy opened her practice, Hands of Life Chiropractic and Rehab Center, P.C. in 2006. She practiced on Dauphin Street in Midtown Mobile, where she used Thompson, Full Spine, and Activator techniques. Her focuses were children’s maintenance care and maintenance of low back conditions. Stacy met the love of her life, Dr. Carter Smith, who became not only her business partner but her life partner. They married on October 3, 2009. Stacy enjoyed traveling abroad with Carter especially to the Caribbean Seas; watching movies, with her favorite ones being Cold Miner’s Daughter and Steel Magnolias; attending music festivals to hear Frankie Beverly and Maze, Lauren Hill, Natalie Cole, and Aretha Franklin; hosting book clubs at her home, and cooking Italian food, red beans and rice, gumbo, and her father’s homemade oyster dressing. Stacy enjoyed life and lived her life to the fullest. Stacy leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Dr. Carter Smith of Mobile, AL; her father and second mother; Mr. Marvis Cameron and Mrs. Shirley Cameron of Gulfport, MS; her little brother as she affectionally called him, Marvis (Scooter) Cameron, II of Atlanta, GA; her sister, Nicole (Rodger) Carter, of Gulfport, MS; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Linda Smith of Huntsville, AL.; nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and a host of close friends.
