Obituary Ms. Doris Elixson, 72, of Lake Butler, FL, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2020 at the North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. She was born on December 11, 1947 in Dade City, FL to the late Albert and Geneva Dees Finley. Doris was a lifelong resident of Union County and at the age of 36, went back to school and completed her high school diploma, joining the UCHS class of 1984. She worked in the home healthcare industry for nearly 20 years before retiring. She loved family and raising children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren was her greatest joy. She loved the Lord and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible and taking local kids to church with her. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed. Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Donald Elixson; by her daughter, Donue Lou Elixson; both parents; and siblings, Gerene Williams, William Finley, Carolyn Swindell, Willa Mae Finley, Wada Sue Finely, and Patricia Finley. Ms. Doris is survived by her children, Donald (Debra) Elixson, Doris (Michael) Teston, Davy (Shelia) Elixson, Danielle (Byron) Sargent all of Lake Butler, FL, Darren (Rebekah) Elixson of Raiford, FL, Denise (Michael) Hedrick, and Ceceilia (Daniel) Hall both of Lake Butler, FL; 31 grand and 23 great grandchildren; and four siblings, Deloris Griffis of Yulee, Anthony (Betty) Finley, Albert (Lanie) Finley, and Charlette (Scott) Elixson all of Lake Butler, FL. Numerous extended family also survive. A funeral to honor the life of Ms. Doris will be held on Thursday, February 20, at 11:00 am at her church, Faith Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00 am at the church. Her interment will follow at Elzey Chapel Cemetery. The family would like to invite everyone back the Lake Butler VFW for a reception following the service.
