Donald’s Obituary Donald A “Don” Obenland, 95, Clay Center, died February 26. He was born August 10, 1924 at Clay Center, the son of Oscar and Goldie (Musselman) Obenland. Don grew up in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1942. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, upon returning, he worked for his father as a plumber at Obenland Plumbing. Don Married Darlene Dittmer on December 14, 1958. After his father’s death, he owned and operated Obenland Plumbing and Heating from 1972 until the mid 1980s. Don worked for USD 379 as a custodian at CCCHS from 1982 until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clay Center American Legion, the Plumber’s Union and he was a volunteer firefighter. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Douglas Obenland, brother, Bob Obenland and sister, Maxine Mott. Survivors: Wife: Darlene Obenland of Clay Center, Kansas Son: Dan and wife, Margie Obenland of Salina, Kansas Son: Dallas and wife, Becky Obenland of Waverly, Nebraska Son: Darrin Obenland of Clay Center, Kansas 4 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren Memorial Services: Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 10:30AM at the St Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kansas Minister: Paul Tessaro Inurnment: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas There will be no visitation. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Meadowlark Hospice c/o the funeral home. Read More
