David’s Obituary DAVID “JULIO” V. HERNANDEZ David “Julio” V. Hernandez, 88, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. He was born on January 8, 1932, the son of the late Ruperto and Ramona (Valenzuela) Hernandez. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Cons Hernandez. He is survived by his sisters: Belia Quintero, Magdalena “Nena” (Romulo) Moreno, and Socorro (Santino) Bernasconi; his children: Gloria Ruelas, David Jr. (Toni), Johnny (Mary), Sandy Pesqueira, Veronica (Fernando) Malanche, Cecilia Hernandez, and Patricia Granillo Islas; 18 grandchildren, 28 (+2 on the way) great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; his in-laws (Armida Cons, Frances R. Hernandez, and Frances “Panchita” Martinez) and numerous nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends. He worked as a harvesting supervisor for Arizona Citrus Growers Bodine Produce Company, Inc., and other companies in the citrus industry for many years; as well as owning and operating R. Hernandez Trucking Co. with his brothers, Ruben and Tino. He enjoyed spending outdoors camping, fishing, hunting, taking long drives to explore new places with his family; as well as his music and singing. He also had a love for animals especially his little guard dog, Tiger. Those who have been blessed to know Julio will always fondly remember him for his generous nature, quick wit, beautiful smile and most of all, as a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. Viewing/Rosary will be on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E Southern Ave. Tempe, AZ. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Guadalupe, AZ, after which Julio will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, 4310 East Southern Avenue, Phoenix, AZ.
