Thibodeau, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully at his home after a brief period of declining health. He was born in Lynn, MA to the late Edward G. and Rita A. (Mallett) Thibodeau. David worked at IBM for more than 30 years, starting as a Technician in IBM’s Salem, MA field office, later as a Software Developer in their Cambridge Scientific Center on the MIT campus, and finally as a Field Engineer servicing IBM’s banking and insurance customers in Boston. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard being stationed in both New Hampshire and Maine. David loved the sea and was an avid sailor. He was a designer and builder of wooden boats and enjoyed collecting and racing model yachts. David is predeceased by his wife, Irene E. (LaFrance) Thibodeau and siblings, Earl, Robert, and Ruth Thibodeau, and Emily (Thibodeau) Ceglowski. Surviving family members include his children, David Thibodeau, Jr. and his wife, Mary Jean of Amherst, NH, Susan (Thibodeau) Hencke and her husband, Randy of Newbury, NH, and Richard Thibodeau and his wife, Lisa of Marblehead, MA, grandchildren, Michelle Blanchard, Katie Goldstein–Smith, Chris Thibodeau, Paul Thibodeau, Claudia Lawton, Nick Thibodeau, Phoebe Thibodeau, and great-grandson, Henry Blanchard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NH Food Bank at 700 East Industrial Park Drive, Manchester, NH 03109 or the Pine Street Inn at 444 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02118. A private family service will be held in Marblehead, MA where he will be buried next to his wife. Print Obituary
