She was born on July 28, 1949 in Cedartown. She was the daughter of the late Artie and Pauline Sloman Brown. She graduated from Cedartown High School and attended Floyd College. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Connie had a passion for music; playing the piano, organ and singing. Born into a musical family, she and her brothers and sisters traveled and sang gospel music throughout the southeast. Connie served in several churches playing, singing and teaching Sunday School most of her life. She touched many lives through her music and teaching. She inspired her music students to excel and many of them have gone on to serve as musicians in other churches. Ms. Brown is survived by her son, Mark Garner (Wendy); daughter, Lana Guthrie; grandchildren, Nathan Garner, Andrew Garner, and Samantha Guthrie; sisters, Brenda Gaylor and Paulette Wood (Steve); and brother, Gerry Brown (Sheila) Ms. Brown is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Phil Brown. In keeping with Ms. Brown’s wishes she was cremated. A memorial service for Ms. Connie Brown will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at five o’clock in the evening in the Gammage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Brown and Rev. Blake Dodd officiating. The family of Ms. Brown will receive family and friends on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from three o’clock in the afternoon until the memorial service hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.
