Charles (Chuck) Wayne Bailey Charles W. Bailey, known as Charlie or Chuck to his family and friends, passed from this earthly life on February 11, 2020 at the age of 73. He was born in Dallas, Texas on August 12, 1946 to Gwendolyn Mae Brennan Bailey and Charles Bailey, Jr. The youngest of two children, he grew up surrounded by a loving family in the Cement City area of Dallas. At the age of twelve, his family moved to Duncanville, Texas and he graduated from Duncanville High School in 1964. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and trained to become a firefighter. On July 13, 1968, he married the love of his life, Angela Beth Patton of Cedar Hill, Texas. They raised four girls and exemplified a sacred covenant for their daughters and their spouses as well as their eleven grandchildren through their nearly 52 years of marriage. Charles completed his Criminal Justice degree at Southwest Texas State University and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. He proudly served his country all over the world and completed a 22 year United States Air Force career in 1988. After retirement he settled with his family in Midlothian, Texas and worked as a civilian police officer, probation officer and truck driver. Throughout his life he was an active member of the United Methodist Church and served his community, notably as part of the Midlothian ISD School Board. Charles made a public profession of his faith and was baptized as a young adult. His commitment to the Lord was made evident through his public service, generosity and his loving devotion as a husband, father and grandfather. He is known for his love of animals and would care for any stray that appeared at his doorstep. He ordered his life to love God, family and country. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Gwen and Charles Bailey. He is survived by his wife, Angela; sister, Susie Ewers; daughters and their spouses, Carrie and David Stanton, Maribeth and Frank Williams, Amy and Nathan Hodge, Susan and Carl McKinney; and eleven grandchildren, Luke, Matt, Andrew, Ian, Emily, Charlie, Will, Carter, Kate, Colton, and Madelyn; and many extended family members and dear friends. Visitation will be held at Midlothian Funeral Home on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A celebration of his life will be on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 1:00pm at First Methodist Mansfield – 777 N. Walnut Creek Dr., Mansfield, Texas 76063. Interment will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery – 2800 Mt. Creek Parkways, Dallas, Texas 75236. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Methodist Mansfield Military Ministry in memory of Charles Bailey. Please note: “IMO – C. Bailey – Military Ministry”.
