Obituary Chuck passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Graceway at Countryside in South Haven, Michigan. He was the only child of Eldred Johnson and Elizabeth “Betty” Nelson Johnson from Lansing, Michigan. He is survived by his daughter, Julie Johnson Broughton, son-in-law John Broughton and two grandchildren, Cody Sawyer Broughton and Katie Sierra Broughton of Cary, North Carolina. Chuck is also survived by close friends and caregivers at Graceway at Countryside. Chuck is preceded in death by both of his parents, Eldred Johnson and Betty Nelson Johnson. Chuck was an equestrian and enjoyed raising and showing horses. He was also a proud Michigan State Spartan Alumni. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Education, he taught school in Peck, MI before starting a milk hauling business in Lowell, MI, where he was the owner operator of two Milk Trucks serving dairy farms in Lowell and the surrounding area. Later, he worked for Country Fresh Dairy as a lab technician in both Grand Rapids and in Kalamazoo. During his retirement and prior to suffering a severe stroke in February 2003, Chuck was an avid cyclist, reader and he enjoyed traveling with friends and camping. Chuck’s family and friends would like to thank the staff at Graceway at Countryside and at Caring Circle for their superb care and compassion in caring for him for so many years.
