Bernard’s Obituary Bernard Vetick, age 93, formerly of Silver Creek, Nebraska died Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Meridian Gardens in Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. Visitation is Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at the church. There will be a 7:00 p.m. vigil service Tuesday evening at the church. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time all at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery with military honors by Silver Creek American Legion Honor Guard. Bernard Vetick was born December 28, 1926 in Nance County, Nebraska to Adam and Frances (Shemek) Vetick. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 – 1957. Bernard married Patricia Kubas on April 28, 1954 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. They were married 59 years, celebrating their golden anniversary in 2004. The couple owned and operated Kozy Bar for several years. He also worked for the Columbus Alfalfa Mill until retiring at age 69. He then worked part-time as a custodian with the Silver Creek Public School. Bernard was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Silver Creek American Legion and the V.F.W.
