Ada Mai’s Obituary Funeral service for Ada Mai Vernon, age 82 of Milan, will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 2 pm at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 12 – 2 pm at the funeral home. Ms. Vernon was born on September 1, 1937 in Milan to L. C. and Annie Mai Vawter Browning. She was a member of the New Haven Baptist Church in Milan and she formerly worked at American Chain and Cable. Besides her parents, Ada Mai was preceded in death by two her husbands Jerry Cook and Charles Vernon and one brother Lawrence Browning. She is survived by three daughters Kay Blackwell (David) of Milan, Karen Goff (Jim) of Milan and Debora Berry of Ferris,TX, one son Ray Cook (Jenifer) of Hickory, NC, four grandchildren Kevin Berry of Ferris, TX, Lesley Blackwell of Milan, David Cook (Jenny) of Hickory, NC and Jon Cook (Jackie) of Union Mills, NC and five great-grandchildren Michael Cook, Nathan Cook, Allen Cook, Hannah Cook and Alice Cook.
