William Edward Redmon, 95, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on December 7, 2019 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born November 4, 1924 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Ben B. and Jenny Belle Smock Redmon. Bill graduated from Bloomfield High School and was a Navy pilot during WWII. On November 27, 1945, he married Betty Brooke in Iowa City. Betty passed away on May 16, 2009. Bill worked a variety of jobs over his career but mostly in construction doing carpentry, electrical, and HVAC. His hobbies included reading, playing solitaire, and woodworking. He also enjoyed working with computers, spending time with family, and volunteering at the Bloomfield Public Library as well as delivering meals-on-wheels. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He is survived by two daughters, Carol Herbert, Cathy Redmon both of Bloomfield; two granddaughters, Crystal Herbert of Bloomfield, Lacey Smith of Havana, Florida; two sisters, Reva Rupe of Ottumwa, Iowa, Sue Wehner of Moweaqua, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Albert, Herbert, and Benjamin Redmon; and a sister, Ruth Lundsford. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 624 W. Rochester St., Ottumwa, Iowa. Jerrod Chapa will officiate. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date at the Dunnville Cemetery in Davis County. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Friday.
