Obituary Wayne Terrance Rooks, age 79, of Dacula, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2019 in the Chapel at Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula with Rev. Kevin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Wayne Terrance Rooks was born on December 27, 1939 to Selma and Elza Rooks in Carroll County, GA. Wayne graduated in 1958 from Avondale High School where he met the love of his life, Joyce Coker, a beautiful “red head” that he could not keep his eyes off of! Wayne worked at Kraft Foods Company in Decatur for 37 years. He was known to many as “Big Wayne”. Wayne and Joyce were married on September 6, 1958 and recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. Wayne grew up in Decatur on Glen Road with his two sisters, Pat and Gail. He attended Buford Highway Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church in Lilburn and, for the past 15 years, was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula where he was a member of the Flock Sunday School Class and where he kept everyone laughing with his sense of humor. He loved God, Elvis, eagles and his children whom he was very proud of. He also loved camping and traveling and was most known as “Granddaddy”, his most loved name. Wayne is survived by his wife, Joyce C. Rooks; daughter and son-in-law, Connie R. and Brent Lawson; son and daughter-in-law, Tim W. and Laura Rooks; two amazing grandchildren, Josh B. Lawson and his wife Kristen and Kayla B. Lawson-Logrono and her husband Michael; six beautiful great grandchildren, Luke, Izzie, Logan, Ollie, Adria and Annalyse; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia R. and Roger Smith and Gail R. and Caroll Toohey; half-brother and his wife, Wayne and Billy Jean Bryant; several aunts and cousins. He was a man with many names: Big Wayne, Twinkle Toes, Silver Fox, Silver Britches, Granddaddy, Dad and Husband. He will be missed greatly here on Earth but we know he is at Heaven’s Gate to greet us all. The family will receive friends Sunday prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Hebron Baptist Church. Online condolences may be left at www.billheadfuneralhome.com.
