Vondell Sumrall, age 74, of Laurel, passed away on December 8, 2019. He was born in Jones County, MS on May 6, 1945. Mr. Sumrall worked as a pumper for B and B Oilwell Services and he was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd Sumrall and Olene Ulmer Sumrall. Survivors include his wife, Maxine Sumrall of Laurel; son, Vondell Sumrall Jr. of Laurel; daughter, Angela Maxine Sumrall of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Bill Sumrall of Sandersville and Buford Sumrall of Laurel; three sisters, Janell Bush of Texas, Marlene Clark of Laurel, and Lucy Sumrall of Kansas; and one grandchild. Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 5 until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Oakland Grove Baptist Church with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Rev. Corey Vermillion will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mike Wages, Donald Wages, Alex Pearson, Lane Brownlee, Will Harrison, and John Sumrall.
