April 5 1936 December 15 2019
Shirley Ann Winowiecki, 83, of Cedar passed away on December 15, 2019 with her loving family by her side. Shirley was born on April 5, 1936 in Traverse City to the late Fred Justice and Mabel Marie (Rivard) Brown. On May 15, 1954, Shirley married Aloysius “Al” Stanley Winowiecki in Traverse City at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Shirley was an amazing mother and grandmother. She cherished all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Photos adorned her home of her beloved family. She will be remembered for her wonderful skills in the kitchen. Many of her great grandchildren are now making bread from her starter. Her dill pickles were craved by all as she grew her own dill and each jar contained her secret ingredient; love. She and Al loved to bake pies on the weekends. She also liked to crochet and made the most beautiful doilies and scrubbies that she gave away as gifts. In the summer months she loved to garden and tend to their beautiful flowers. She treasured her yard art and bird feeders. She and Al were also devoted volunteers for the funeral luncheons at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 25 years. Shirley is survived by her husband of 65 years, Aloysius; children Christopher (Carol) Winowiecki, Debra (Bill) Corby, Dianna (Mike) Sheridan, Aloysius “Al Jr. / Sput” Winowiecki, Steve (Kristine) Winowiecki, Douglas (Teresa) Winowiecki and Lisa (Dave) Rahe; 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; siblings Yvonne Cousino, Sandra Kosch, Thomas (Nancy) Brown and Gary Brown. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, son Daniel, infant daughter Sheila; siblings Jean (Paul) Merchant, Fred (Ruth) Brown, Betty (Norman) Anderson, brother-in-law Don Cousino and son-in-law Jerry Corby. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 5 to 7 pm, with the Rosary to be prayed at 7 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
