Ruth Ann Powers, 95, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at her home. Ruth was born March 25, 1924 in Evansville to the late Martin Henry and Eula (Needham) Pretz. She worked for Sears as a retail sales manager for over 20 years; enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a member of the VFW Post #1114 Ladies Auxiliary and the Salem United Methodist Church quilting club in Evansville. Surviving Ruth are two daughters, Sheri (Marc) Knippenberg and Gayle (Michael) Schweizer, both of Evansville; three sons, John (Alice) Powers, IV of Fishers, IN, Alan (Susan) Powers of Texas and Mark (Marcy) Powers of Evansville; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Powers, III; by brothers, Henry Farquhar and Sam Farquhar and by an infant brother, Martin Pretz. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Pierre Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
