Obituary Rosella Yvonne Smith, age 90, of Lakeland, Florida and formerly of Elwood, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Lakeland following a brief illness. She was born on December 5, 1929 in Elwood to the late Ursel and Marie Katherine (Wallace) Knotts. On she married the love of her life Frederick Smith on April 30, 1948 and they shared nearly 52 years together before his death in 2000 . Rosella was a homemaker all of her life and spent her time providing a loving home for her 9 children. She was a devoted member of the Central Wesleyan Church in Elwood where she taught Sunday School for more than 30 years and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed swimming in the pool of the retirement community where she lived in Florida and she enjoyed listening to the Moody Bible radio station. Rosella is survived by 9 children, Frederick C.(Marlene) Smith, Jr. of Polk City, FL, David Smith of Cary, NC, Rebecca (Bill) Hylemon of Polk City, FL, Kathleen (Dennis) Baldwin of Lakeland, FL, Roger Smith of Holly Springs, NC, Rachael (Douglas) Beadle of Ashboro, NC, Leatha Garrison of Wilmington, NC, Thomas Smith of Polk City, FL, and Timothy Smith of Polk City, FL, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, siblings, Ramona Whisler of Elwood, Robert Knotts of Frankton, Bonnie Ice of Elwood, Jerry Knotts of Deming, New Mexico, Ursel Knotts of Deming, New Mexico, and Reta Fullhart of Muncie, and several nieces and nephews. Rosella was preceded in death by her parents, Ursel and Marie Katherine (Wallace) Knotts, her husband, Frederick C. Smith, Sr., and a sister Emmagene Whittkamper, grandaughter, Kari Faulstich, and great grandson, Chandler Warren . Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Central Wesleyan Church in Elwood, Indiana with Rev. Douglas Beadle and Rev. Spencer Baggott officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday December 28, 2019 at the Central Wesleyan Church, 2209 Main Street Elwood, IN 46036 .
