Roger’s Obituary Roger D. Marcotte, 78, formerly of Beresford, SD, died Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. A private service and veteran’s processional was held at the Sioux Falls Veteran’s Hospital with Roger’s immediate family the day he went home to the Lord. Roger’s wish was to be cremated and will be laid to rest at the new veteran’s cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD, upon completion. Roger Dean Marcotte was born February 13, 1941 in Vermillion, SD to Leo and Dallie (Sealey) Marcotte. He was the youngest of 6 children. He married Susan VanHecke on October 7, 1967. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Italy. Roger was an avid reader and was most proud of his work in carpentry and home building. His father, Leo, taught him about auto mechanics and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t repair or teach. Roger was a wonderful grandfather and was so proud of them. Roger is survived by his wife, Susan, Sioux Falls, SD; his children, Anne (Jeff) Olson, Harrisburg, SD, Ryan (Carisa) Marcotte, Pine Island, MN, and Ross (JoEllen “Polly”) Marcotte, Sioux Falls, SD; 4 grandchildren, Macy, Isaac, Andrew and Sam; great-granddaughter, Ellajah; his sister, Betty Schmidt, Wakonda, SD and brother-in-law, Bill Lynch, Phoenix, AZ. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dallie Marcotte; sisters, Ferne (Warren) Morse and Ruth Lynch; brothers, Melvin (Dorthy) Marcotte and Morris (Shirley) Marcotte, and brother-in-law Virgil Schmidt, Wakonda, SD.
