Obituary Raymond L. Bottens Age 84 of Coal City, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born March 9, 1935 in Ripley County, Missouri, Raymond Leslie was a son of Everett N. and Lucy Irene (Gomer) Bottens. He was raised in Cherryvale, Kansas; graduated from Cherryvale High School with the class of 1953, and went on to marry Doris E. Alexander on March 14, 1954. Raymond worked at Johnson and Johnson Personal Products in Wilmington for more than 30 years before retiring as a supervisor. His hobbies included elk hunting in Colorado, trap shooting and reloading. Raymond also held a passion for woodworking, and was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City. Raymond is survived by his wife, Doris; six children: Pam (Russ) Dunkel of Stoughton, WI, Phyllis (Butch) Skubic and Patti Kuchar both of Coal City, Scott (Lori) Bottens of Lilburn, GA, Dan (Laura) Bottens of Lisle, and Roger Bottens of Plainfield; [13] Grandchildren; [16] Great Grandchildren; two brothers: Edward (Elaine) Bottens of Cape Coral, FL, and Ronald (Kay) Bottens of Elmhurst; one sister, Elizabeth (Carl) Sallee of Mt. Vernon, MO; two sisters-in-law, Rita (Paul) Powell of Nebraska and Elaine (the late Don) Alexander of Kansas; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dylan Bottens, one son-in-law, Lou Kuchar; siblings: Hazel (James) Polchaire, Marion Bottens, Ruth (Chester) Rowe, Evelyn Bottens, Pauline (Robert) Cope, Opal (Charles) Hamilton, Robert Bottens and James Bottens, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Nadine (Charles) Weis, Yvonne (Loel) Hornback and Donald (Elaine) Alexander. Green flameless cremation services have been accorded, and memorial services will be held at a later date. Preferred memorial may be made as gifts in Raymond’s memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
