Peggy Cannon Southerland, 89, Johnson City, died Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at her residence, following a lengthy illness. Peggy was a lifelong resident of Johnson City and the daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy Leonard Cannon. She was retired from ETSU where she worked in the Admissions office. Peggy was a long time member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Anderson Southerland in 2014, and three brothers Roy “R.L.”, David, and Joe Cannon. Peggy is survived by her son, Roger Southerland, Johnson City; her daughter, Janice S. Fergerson, Apopka, FL; grandchildren, Anderson “Andy” Lee Southerland, Johnson City, Elizabeth F. and William Tinsley, III, Ft. Worth, TX; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., in the Mausoleum Chapel of Monte Vista Memorial Park. Entombment will follow. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 A.M., at the mausoleum. In-lieu-of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 120 E.
