Orland Jerome “O.J.” Bye passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 29, 2019. A native of Comstock, Minnesota, O.J. was born on April 10, 1937 and graduated from Comstock High School. He later moved with his family to Minneapolis, MN and eventually to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, where he enjoyed manufacturing and designing innovative machining solutions for Hilti. Often a man of few words, when he did speak it was important. O.J. enjoyed spending time with family and his beloved dog Abby, golfing, reading and whittling. He was an avid sports fan who never lost his passion for the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins and acquired an intense loyalty to Oklahoma State University teams. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Sedvin and Gladys Bye; brother, Richard Bye and his son, Robert Bye. He is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughter, Sue Schildt and husband, Tim; son, Mike Bye and wife, Tracy; son, James Bye; son, Jason Bye; grandchildren, Ali and Gena Schildt and Bobby, Mallory and Tucker Bye. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Donna Bye and nieces Nicci Wolf and Heather Bergemann and their families. A Memorial Service celebrating O.J.’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service.
