Mortimer “Mort” Gilbert November 10, 1919 – December 26, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Mortimer “Mort” Gilbert, 100, of Hueytown, AL, passed away December 26, 2019. He was a longtime member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. Mort was a WWII veteran of the US Army. He retired from U.S. Steel with over 33 years of service. Mort was a loving husband, devoted father and a proud friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Evelyn Gilbert and his son, Robert Brent (Brenda) Gilbert. Graveside service will be Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at Mud Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Billy Brewer will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home.
