Michael Eugene Givens, 62, Anderson, was ushered into the arms of Jesus for all eternity on Monday, December 23, 2019, at his residence following a courageous fight against cancer. He was born on October 15, 1957, in Anderson, the son of Roy E. and Beverly (Potts) Givens. Mike graduated from Lapel High School in 1975, where he played baseball and participated in wrestling. Following graduation, he attended Purdue University for one semester followed by working for various builders in Anderson, Indianapolis, and Muncie, as well as many surrounding counties. His gift was the trim guy using his professional touch of the “woodcrafter” in new homes as well as remodeling expertise many times while self-employed. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Givens; mother; children, Christopher, Derek, and Alicia (Alex Eads) Givens; step-son, Shawn (Angela) Heath; siblings, Cynthia Jo (Mike) Griffin and Scott (Tamara Riggs) Givens; brother-in-law, Randy Dickinson; grandchildren, Parker, Madison, Conner, Liam, and Landon; step-grandchildren, Scott and Dylan Heath; several nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Roy “Gene” Givens; aunt, Kay Ryan; great-nephew, Kainen Griffin and great niece, Kyleigh Rose Ashby; son-in-law, Ryan Richardson. A celebration of life in Mike’s honor will take place at Ovid Community Church, 793 East 600 South, Anderson, IN 46013 on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the church atrium.
