April 21 1949 November 26 2019
Mike A. Kasper (70) passed away early Tuesday morning, November 26, 2019 in Tomball, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Beth, and sons, Mike (Jessie) & Daniel, and his two brothers Alan (Susan) and Jim (Linda). He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Vicky Kasper. He was a family man, sharing his love of all things outdoors with his wife and sons, including snow skiing, tennis, running, water sports, hunting, fishing, sporting clays, camping, hiking, backpacking and scuba diving. Above all, he loved to prepare feasts for any sized group whether for his immediate family or a huge Scout gathering. After Hurricane Ike, he had a cookout for the neighbors. He retired from ExxonMobil. Mike was always a man of service, beginning with the Army and continuing by coaching high school tennis at Lake Shore Central while teaching chemistry in Angola, New York. With Beth, he taught scuba diving for many years, diving the Caribbean, Great Barrier Reef and Florida Keys. He served as a youth coach for basketball, baseball, soccer, and hockey. In his long tenure as a Scout leader, including Scoutmaster in Troop 928, he promoted youth leadership, led countless outdoor trips, including one to the Boy Scouts of America National Philmont Scout Camp and was most proud of the Eagle Scouts he mentored over the years. He continued his spirit of volunteerism through the USO by assisting at Bush International Airport, helping with Lenten fish fries for the Knights of Columbus and renovation projects at the neighborhood pool. The date and time of the memorial service will be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: PTSD Foundation of America’s Camp Hope*, 9724 Derrington Rd.
