Obituary Martha Susan Walling age 80, of Mesquite and formerly of Meridian, passed away on December 22, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Morgan Cemetery in Morgan, Texas. Family members will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 A.M., until 12:30 P.M., at Lawson Funeral Home on Monday, December 30, 2019. Martha was born in Halifax, North Carolina and grew up in the Washington DC area. She had many tales of the times during the WWII years. Her father was a florist with a business and her mother assisted. The family settled in Lewisville, Texas. When the youngest child went to first grade Martha started college to be a Licensed Vocational Nurse. By 1972 she was a Registered Nurse and was working in the Neonatal unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was very proud of her work taking care of premature babies in the hospital. After 30 plus years she retired to a farm in Meridian, Texas where she and James raised cattle until his passing in 2014. She was in poor health and spent her last days in a facility in Mesquite, Texas where she passed away on December 22, 2019. Left to cherish her memories are her children, William Walling and wife, Brenda, of Mesquite, Janet Erm and husband, Donald, of Austin, Deborah Lynch and husband, Steve, of Whitney, Constance Kendall and husband, Scott, of Grand Prairie, Christine Michael and husband, Tim, of Lincoln, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Frank Lyon and Miriam Wyche; other relatives and many friends.
