Mrs. Leta Ann Applegate, 80, of Copan, died at 8:10 P.M. on Monday, December 16, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Copan United Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Peck officiating and directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 AM until 8 PM. Mrs. Applegate was born at Pampa, Texas on April 4, 1939 the daughter of Wilma (Lampkin) and Theodore Roosevelt Butler. She grew up and received her education at Shawnee, Oklahoma and then Bakersfield, California where she graduated from high school. She then returned to Shawnee where she was married to Norman Applegate in 1958. They moved to Dewey to make their home and she was employed as a keypunch operator and secretary with Phillips Petroleum Company until her retirement. She enjoyed ceramics and attended the Copan United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Rickey Applegate of Cedarvale, Kansas, two daughters, Diana Applegate Johnson of Bartlesville and Karen Applegate Dunn of Nowata, two granddaughters, Ashley Applegate and Chandra Owens, a great grandson, Ryan Owens, and a sister, June Moodrea of Bakersfield, California. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Applegate, her parents and a brother, Freddie Duncan. Friends who wish may sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.stumpff.org.
