Kirtene Bruty, age 76, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019, at her residence surrounded by family. To honor and celebrate Kirtene’s life, the family will host a memorial visitation at Dallmeyer Hall/Washington County Fairgrounds on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County or the Betterment Foundation for maintenance of the Central Park Fountain. She graduated from Washington High School in 1961. Kirtene was united in marriage to Franklin Wallace Bruty on April 5, 1962, in Washington, Iowa. Kirtene worked as a bookkeeper for Frank Bruty Construction. She was a member of T.T.T. Kirtene loved diamonds and vacuums. She cherished time spent with family and was a mother figure to her entire extended family. Her favorite place was her kitchen table where friends and family would gather to visit. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Bruty; daughter, Beth Paul; son, Greg “Bud” Bruty and wife Debbie; son, Walter Bruty; six grandchildren: Schuyler Paul, Whitney Paul and fiancé Travis Swift, Paige Garrels and husband Tyler, Shannyn Paul and fiancé Sean Cortum, Megan Bruty and Dalton Bruty; and five great-grandchildren: Layla Hesser, Sadie Paul, Kagan Bruty, Maxson Crawford and Baby Garrels, all of Washington; sister, Greta Wells of Washington, IA; sister, Julie Hanson of Ft. Worth, TX; sister, Becky Kaufman and husband Wayne of Washington, IA; sister-in-law, Avis Wells Smith of Coralville, IA; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank, on May 24, 2019; infant son, Bryan; infant granddaughter, Morgan; son-in-law, Steve Paul; brother, James “Butch” Wells; and brother-in-law, Don Hanson.
