Kenneth’s Obituary Kenneth Lloyd Holcomb, age 83, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019. He was born February 7, 1936, in London, Ohio. He graduated from London High School in 1954. During his teen years, he worked as a carpenter with his father. Kenneth entered the Navy in 1954. He served on the USS Coral Sea, an aircraft carrier CVA43, where he was a Boiler Attendant. In 1957 he served on the USS Gurke, a destroyer, where he was in charge of the Forward Fire Room. After he left the Navy in 1958, he worked at McCord Corporation in London making Studebaker radiators. He worked at the State prison in London before going to work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons from 1963 to 1986. He worked at the prisons in Chilicothe, OH; Atlanta, GA; Leavenworth, KS; Texarkana, TX and Ashland, KY. In 1974, he was awarded the James V. Bennett Award, the highest honor the Bureau of Prisons can bestow. After retiring from the Bureau of Prisons, he worked at Kenworth Truck in Chilicothe, OH and then as a Ross County Probation Officer in Ohio. Kenneth was preceded in death by his father and mother Harley and Amy Holcomb; three brothers, Charles, Donald and Ralph Holcomb; four sisters, Myrtle and Bertha Holcomb, Bessie Manning and Gloria Long. Two very special friends also preceded him death, Patty Lambert and Betsy Craytor. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Treva and Greg Liles of Hooks, TX; one son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Kim Holcomb of Mt. Pleasant, TX. He is survived by five grandchildren, Vance Liles, Jennifer Parker, Destanie Holcomb, Lindsay Shuttleworth and Clayton Laird. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Aaron, Charlie May and Jillian Parker and Emma Liles. The family would like to thank the Retreat at Kenwood and their wonderful staff for the love and care of our father and grandfather. Graveside Services will be Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Center Ridge Cemetery in Maud, Texas with Bro. Joe Stone officiating. Read More
