Obituary Mr. Joseph “Joe” Monroe Giles Jr., 73, of Dunn died Friday December 27, 2019 at Duke University Hospital in Durham. Mr. Giles born October 10, 1946 in Harnett County to Jackie Jernigan Giles and the late Joseph Giles Sr. Mr. Giles was preceded in death by his brother Johnnie Giles. Mr. Giles was a 1964 graduate of Erwin High School and went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from what was then Campbell College. Mr. Giles was a Certified Public Accountant founding Giles, Strickland, Warren & Associates in 1976. Mr. Giles was a past president of the Betsy Johnson Board of Directors and the Dunn Chamber of Commerce. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and was active in numerous other civic organizations. Mr. Giles enjoyed collecting clocks and watches, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. A funeral service for Mr. Giles will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Len Keever officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Giles is survived by his wife of 51 years, Tanya Giles; sons, Joseph Michael Giles and Nathan Earl Giles; mother, Jackie Jernigan Giles; sisters, Ellen Scott, and Debbie Greider; and grandchildren, Liam, Lee, Avery, and Bellarose Giles. The family will receive friends Monday, December 30, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn. Arrangements are by Skinner & Smith Funeral Home of Dunn.
