John Charles Wolfe, age 88, of Rogersville, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at his home. He was a son of the late Dana and Nannie Lou Maddox Wolfe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Rader Wolfe; sister, Marie Newberry; and brothers, Roy Wolfe and Dana Wolfe, Jr. Mr. Wolfe was a member of Caney Creek Baptist Church and owner of Big John’s Restaurant. He held several offices in the Lion’s Club, past president and coach of the Rogersville Little League, and enjoyed cooking, reading cookbooks, and watching college sports, especially the Lady Vols. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, where he was a cook. Survivors include his loving children, John Charles Smith and wife Janice, John Wolf, Jr. and wife Pam, Linda Simas and husband Mike, Robert Wolfe and wife Phyllis, Lisa Hensley and husband Bobby, Ronnie Lawson and wife Glenda, and Donnie Lawson; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Carpenter. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 3:00 pm Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Sheldon Livesay and Rev. Tim Seaton officiating. The graveside service will follow in Highland Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow Lion’s Club members.
