Jennifer L. Leiter, 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 27, 2019. She was the loving wife of Manuel Leiter for 46 years. She was a practical, opinionated, and strong-willed woman who would do anything she could to help others. Her family and the countless friends she made over the years will miss her deeply. Jennifer was born in Fall River and was the daughter of the late Richard Babbitt and Lynette (White) Babbitt. Jennifer was a graduate of Bristol Community College (BCC) and dedicated her life to helping others as a Registered Nurse. She was initially employed at Morton Hospital and then spent 20 years as a charge nurse at Silver Creek Nursing Home, in Bristol, RI. Most recently, Jennifer was an instructor at BCC and also an administrator and nursing coordinator for Family Services of Fall River. Jennifer was a longtime member of the Dighton Community Church, where she served as the choir director. Jennifer enjoyed tending to her garden, crocheting, and traveling with her husband and family. She cherished the time that she spent with her family and was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Gwendolyn (Kevin) Cabral of Warren, RI, Tristan (Anne) Daugherty-Leiter of Middleton, WI, and Cassandra (Dennis) Thibeault of Marshfield, MA; her brother, Clyde (Susan) Babbitt, sister, Beth Ford, and sister-in-law, Sherry Babbitt, all of FL; her grandchildren, Luke, Griffin, MacKinnon, Beatrix, Alexa, and Logan; and her nephews, Eric and Nathan. She was the sister of the late Steven Babbitt. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at 11am, at the Dighton Community Church, 2036 Elm St., Dighton, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Burial will follow in the Community Church Cemetery, Dighton. A time of collation following the burial will be held at the adjacent Friendship Hall. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, from 4-7pm, at Hathaway Funeral Home, 900 Buffington Street, Somerset, MA.
