Obituary Jean Carol Antwine Merritt, 79, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at her home. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Jean loved to watch TV, fishing off the pier and most of all spending time with family and friends. She will be truly missed by many. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Burl Perry Merritt Sr.; parents, Judge and Villian Antwine; son, Burl Perry Merritt, Jr.; daughter, Pamela Potter and five siblings. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Donald Merritt and wife Vickie; grandchildren, Pamela McKinley and husband Justin, Joseph Williams and wife Sassi, Jeremy Potter and wife Brandee and Coty Potter; several great grandchildren; sisters, Annie Hill, Virginia Turnage and husband Steve and Ellen Orth and husband Dick. Funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2019 with visitation to follow at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Pinelawn Memorial Park. To send flowers to Jean’s family, please visit our floral section.
