James F McCrickard, age 81 of Mineral Bluff, passed away December 4, 2019 at Fannin Regional Hospital. James was born July 19, 1938 in Elkhorn, West Virginia to the late Aubry McCrickard and Mamie Yates McCrickard. A member of the Baptist faith, he was preceded in death by grandson Eric Jordan and 3 siblings. James spent 27 years in the United States Air Force Retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. His duties thru the years included radio operator and repairs, electronics, computer maintenance and repair. During his years of services he spent time in Japan, Thule Greenland, Okinawa, Germany and several stateside posts. After retiring he attended Hillsbourgh Community College in Tampa, Fl. receiving an associates degree in architecture design. James worked for the city of Tampa, Fl. for the next 13 years as plans examiner and retired from the city and moved to the beautiful North Georgia mountains to begin designing and building his dream home with his wife Mona. They spent 51 wonderful years together working side by side. Survivors include: wife, Ramona (Mona) McCrickard, daughters, Leslie Jordan, Laurie (Don) Hines, Gina McCrickard, Patricia (David) Steele, and Stephanie (Jeff) Walter. Son, James McCrickard Jr. (Jim-Jim). Five Grandchildren and three great grand children. Funeral services Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Ga. with the Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga Monday, December 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Ga. , Saturday, December 14, 2019, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
