James Edward Hooper, age 89, of Rock Creek, Al., passed from this life to his heavenly home on December 31, 2019. He was born June 23, 1930 in Jasper, Alabama. He was a mechanic, race car driver, and an antique car upholsterer. He had a love for antique cars, work of any kind, and a good meal. He loved time spent with family rarely missing ballgames, races, and cheer competitions. He was a Christian of fifty plus years and had a strong will and sheer determination. He was known as one of the hardest working men with a relentless work ethic. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Annie Hooper, brothers David, Billy, Junior, and Buddy, and his grandson Jacob Hooper. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Joan Hooper; sons Eddie (Donna Lynn), Dwight (Beth), Donnie (Charlotte), and Jimmy (Dana); grandchildren Charity (Josh), April (Andy), Sara (Josh), Samuel (Katie), Becca (Cruz), Hannah (Griffin), Timothy, Matthew (Sommer) Jessica (Todd), and Micah (Aleigha); great grandchildren Riley, Aubrey, Zoey, Jonah, Noah, Dixie, Evie, Fletcher, Annie, Roman, Harper, Ellen, River, and Caroline; brother Bobby (Ann) Hooper The visitation will be January, 3, 2020, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. Mike Stephens officiating. The burial will follow at Rock Creek Church of God Cemetery. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
