James Chamberlain Buskirk, 74, of Benicia passed November 30, 2019. Jim was born in Long Beach, California to Dena & Earl Buskirk Sr. He grew up in Hawaii and California and graduated from San Rafael High School in 1963. He went on to join the Air Force where he served as a jet mechanic and held rank as Sergeant. He was a skilled carpenter and he enjoyed all wood working and built his family cabin near Mendocino. He met his wife Deborah in Marin and together they raised three children. Son, Jesse and daughters Naomi and Emmy. He went on to own a family fireplace and solar business. He later worked in both automotive and yacht sales, primarily in Marin county. Jim’s friends in the business knew him as “Buzz”. Upon retiring he spent most of his time in Izamal, Mexico where he enjoyed the people, local culture, nature and writing poetry. Jim had a sense of humor like no other and more than anything enjoyed making people laugh. He handled every situation with humor. A gift he passed on to his three children. He loved boating, the water, animals, cooking, gardening, the 49ers, music, dancing, red wine and good tequila. Jim will be dearly missed by his many friends and family. He is survived by his former wife, Deborah Pritchard. Their Children; Jesse (Laura) Buskirk, Naomi (Danny) Glassmaker, and Emmy (Ronel Murphy) Buskirk; His grandchildren Allison Carretta, Joseph Carretta, Jordan Murphy, Anthony “A.J.” Murphy. His brother, Earl Buskirk Jr. and Lifelong best friend, Louis Ferrari. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Judy Fullenbach. A party in Jim’s honor will be held at date to be announced.
