West Sr., age 84, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Herman was born on June 4, 1935 to to his parents the late Cleve West and Cora Goff West. He was the husband of the late Jessie Dixon West, owner of a paving company, and the moderator of the Frozen Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Herman was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Lynn West Simpson, three brothers, Rell West, James West, Junior West, and two sisters, Edna Akers and Cora Kinney. Herman is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Eddie) Blackburn, one son, Herman Gene West Jr., one sister, Ruby McKinney, five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, January 3, 2020 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Doug Thompson, A.B. Thacker, Paul Huffman, Teddy Honaker, and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
