Glenn A. Mehrtens Glenn A. Mehrtens, 63, of Millstadt, IL, passed away on December 21, 2019 at his home in Millstadt, IL. He was born May 15, 1956, in Belleville, IL. Glenn was a lifelong diesel mechanic at numerous shops and especially enjoyed working with family and friends at Roy Wolfmeier Trucking. Throughout his life, he was involved in numerous organizations: Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL., Zion Men’s Fellowship, a co-founder of ISPA (Illinois Stock Pullers Association), Hart-Parr Oliver’s Collectors Association, and River Hills Antique Tractor Club. Glenn loved his family and relished in the joy brought about by his grandkids. His favorite past times included tractors; whether it was tinkering in the shop or pulling on the track. He also enjoyed making wine, gardening, and working on the family farm. He had an all-around big heart for all animals but especially his furry companion, Buster Brown. Surviving are his two sons, Ryan (Lyndsey) Mehrtens of Millstadt, IL, Dustin (Megan) Mehrtens of Saint Louis, MO; his daughter, Anna (Bill) Knobeloch of Millstadt, IL; his grandchildren, Molly and Reese Mehrtens; Colby and Aubree Ortmann and Baby Boy Mehrtens; Sophia and Chet Knobeloch; his brother, Armin (Charlene) Mehrtens; his sister, Delores (late husband, Allen) Bocker; his girlfriend, Debbie Karr of Millstadt, IL, her children, Neal (Loretta) Francis; Brandon (Cara) Karr; and Katlyn Karr; her grandchildren, Garrett and Lincoln Francis; Aiden, Teo, and Amaya Karr. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Mehrtens; his mother, Lucille Mehrtens, nee Doerr; a sister, RuthAnn Kimpel; and several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2019 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Leesman Funeral Home, Millstadt, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019; with viewing from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, at Zion Evangelical Church, Millstadt, IL, with Pastor Darrell Weber officiating. Interment will follow in the Freivogel Cemetery, Millstadt, IL. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
