Gina Loraine Ritchel, age 56, of Bloomington passed away December 19th at her residence with her loving family by her side. Born November 7, 1963 in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Bill and Darlene Kommans. Gina graduated from Eastern High School in Greentown. Gina worked at Bob Evans in Bloomington, where she gained a following of loyal customers who loved her wit and kindness. Gina and her husband Michael Ritchel celebrated their 20th year of marriage this year by embarking on an Alaskan cruise. Gina and Mike were avid travelers and also enjoyed boating, fishing, playing games at home, and attending live jazz concerts. Gina was a skilled crafter and interior designer with an eye for beauty and comfort. She loved hosting and bringing people together for celebrations. Family was the most important thing to her. Gina shared a special bond with her daughter, Monica Kristen Taylor, who was her best friend. Julienne, her three-year-old granddaughter, was the love of her life. Her family remembers her for her thoughtfulness, kindness, sense of humor, lively energy, and wonderful laugh. Gina is survived by her husband Michael, daughter Monica (Jordan) Taylor, mother Darlene Kommans, sister’s Teresa (Danny) Brock, Deborah (Mark) McKinney, stepdaughters Elaine Ritchel, Maria (Kevin) Wahl, stepsons Tony (Karre) Ritchel, Tom (Lisa) Ritchel and Sean Ritchel. Granddaughter Julienne Taylor, step grandsons Maddox and Michael Taylor, Christian and Aidan Kopec, Austin Shelby, Nieces Stephanie (Nick) Purdy, Zoe Adams, Nephews Christopher (Jenna) Brock, Devin Adams. Many other family members too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her father Bill Kommans, Aunts Ingrid Beckerer, Edith Pilz, grandmothers Else Kommans, Hazel Armstrong and grandfather’s Thurman Armstrong, Lloyd Hannon. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2:00-4:00 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Road 37. A short celebration of life with Pastor David Wigington will be at 4:00 pm.
