Obituary Elsie “Betsy” C. Royer, 78, of Lewistown, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Born Apr. 5, 1941, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Knepp) Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Marlin E. “Huey” Royer Sr., who she married on Sept. 7, 1957, and died in Oct. of 2003; an infant sister, Rebecca; a granddaughter, Brandy Royer; three brothers, Gerald, Howard and Charles Thomas. She is survived by: children, Marlin E. Royer Jr. and wife, Peggy, of Lewistown, Mary Royer, of Burnham, Betty Snook and husband, Mike, of Lewistown, William E. Royer and wife, Penny, of Port Royal, Pamela Heffner and husband, Matthew, of Lewistown; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Thomas, of Lewistown. Elsie was a member of Parkview Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed going to the beach, playing Bingo and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 FirstAve., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 8 p.m., at the funeral home with Rev. Jeanine Leister officiating. Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m., on Friday, January 3, 2020.
