Douglas “Doug” Austin Frink, 57, of Nineveh, passed away at 12:07 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2019 at I.U. Health-University Hospital in Indianapolis. Doug was born October 29, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Donald Austin and Joyce Liechty Frink. On October 6, 2011, he married Bonnie (Land) Bell. Doug received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and has been involved with information technology since 1989. He was an accomplished cyber security specialist and eventually became the Chief Operating Officer of Global Security while working for Cognizant. His biggest accomplishment, he would say, was raising his son, Austin, by himself. Doug enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid hunter, loved to travel and spend time with his family. He was also handy when it came to home improvement projects. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; sons, Austin (Tova Lesko) Frink of Bloomington, Ben (Cheryl) Bell of Greenwood, Joseph Bell of Seymour; grandchildren, Benjamin and Brooklyn Bell; mother, Joyce (Verne) Liechty Frink Chandler, also of Greenwood; brother, Ted (Kenna) Frink of Nineveh; nephews, Tyler and Jared Frink; step brothers, David (Debra) Chandler of California, Brian Chandler of Beech Grove; step sisters, Jean Marie Gartner and Beth Ann (Paul) Janeczko, also of Beech Grove. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Austin Frink. The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.
