Daniel Davis Puffer of Bedford, Massachusetts October 31, 1938 – November 28, 2019 On Thursday, November 28, 2019, Daniel D. Puffer, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at the age of 81. Born October 31, 1938 in Concord, MA son of Winthrop F. and Esther (Robinson) Puffer and he was raised by his beloved stepmother, Helen (Goodwin) Puffer. He was a member of the graduating Class of 1957 at Concord High School. After which he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served proudly from 1958 until 1961 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. In 1962, he married Jane MacFarlane of Lexington and they shared 57 years of marriage. In 1967, they settled in Bedford, where they raised their four children, Mary Beth, Daniel Jr., Amy, Sara as well as several foster children. Dan was employed as an Oil Burner Technician with Minuteman Oil and Dudley Fuel. Prior to retiring, he worked with Microsoft Support for several years. As an active member in the community he coached his girls’ recreational softball teams and was a member of the Billerica Irish American Club. With a great passion for history, he enjoyed being a member of the Bedford Minuteman Company as one of their drummers and later as Captain. He was a founding member of the Bourbonnais Regiment and had the honor of serving as the Commanding Officer for many years. Dan was an active member of St. Michael’s Parish in Bedford where he was an altar server, often seen with his wife Jane serving alongside him. In addition, he volunteered in the St. Vincent de Paul Society activities at the parish. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane, and devoted children, Mary Beth Morgan of Billerica, Daniel D. Puffer, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of North Reading, Amy Girouard and her husband, Keith of Tyngsboro, Sara Puffer White and her husband Ted of Pepperell and Scott Drew and his wife Susan of Virginia Beach, VA. Also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Daniel and Hannah Morgan, Madeline and Jonathan Puffer, Joseph and Mya Girouard, Liam, Aidan and Colin White and Chloe and Anna Drew and many beloved nieces and nephews and their children. He was predeceased by his brothers, Winthrop F. Puffer, Jr., Stephen D. Puffer and David R. Puffer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, on Saturday, December 7, at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, MA 01730.
