Sargent, age 70 of Independence, Kansas passed away, Thursday, December 5, 2019 at her home in Independence. Cathy was born on August 23, 1949 in Independence, Kansas to Charles Bentley and Azalea (Hutchinson) Bentley. She graduated from Independence High School in the class of 1967. She worked at Standard Motors in Independence for 37 years before retiring in 2016. On March 9, 1968 she married Anthony Sargent. They made their home in Illinois for many before moving back to Independence where they have lived for several years. Cathy loved her kids and grandkids and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Cathy is survived by her husband Anthony Sargent of the home in Independence, Kansas; one son, Michael Sargent of Cherryvale, Kansas and one daughter, Brenda Reeve of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one brother, Merle Bentley of Wichita, Kansas and one sister, Elizabeth Homan of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Nicholas Valade, Jeffrey “J.J.” Valade, Dani (Valade) Andrews, Joseph Sargent and Briana Sargent; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Sargent, Livia, Javier, and Ryder Valade. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Allen Family Funeral Services, 3848 W. Main, Independence, Kansas 67301. The family has suggested memorials to the Hometown Healthcare Hospice, and those remembrances may be left in care of the Allen Family Funeral Services, 3848 W. Main, Independence, Kansas 67301.
