Betty Joe Gentry September 15, 1948 – December 14, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Betty Joe Gentry, age 71, of Cookeville, passed away suddenly at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville on December 14, 2019. She was born on September 15, 1948 in Chicago, IL to Joe E. and ILA (Hudgins) Gentry. She was raised in South Wilmington, IL graduating from Gardner South Wilmington High School and Tennessee Tech University. She was a Social Worker until her retirement and moving south. Her passion was cooking, reading and genealogy. She is survived by one sister, Brenda (Gentry) Waldschmidt of Cookeville and Aunt, Barbara Gentry of Cookeville, one very close nephew, Aron (Kacie) Waldschmidt of Minneapolis, MN, one niece, Allie Waldschmidt of Ottawa, IL and several other nephews and nieces and cousins. She is also survived by close friends, Danny Boles, Jessica Bishop and Christopher Hall. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by, both sets of grandparents, one brother, Curtis L. Gentry and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family has chosen Cremation and Whitson Funeral Home is in Charge of the arrangements. Print Obituary
